I Wonder What Would Happen...

I was reading this post by Brittany today and in her post she states:
"It's a psychological fact that everyone's favorite word is their own name...Luckily, I've been given the gift of a crazy good memory. I always remember names and faces, but out of fear of looking crazy, I hardly use people's names if I'm unsure if they know mine."
I'm the exact same way!! I don't want to appear creepy to people by remembering their names after our first meeting. So I always avoid that imaginary "creepiness" by pretending to forget their name. I wonder what would happen if I didn't do that. Instead of pretending, just say it! I secretly hate when people can't seem to remember my name. The first couple times is forgivable, sure, but after about the third meeting if they don't remember my name, I get annoyed. SOO why would I ever cause other people this annoyance?! Personally, I LOVE it when someone remembers my name! It makes me feel appreciated, remembered, and worthwhile.

Last year, I got set up on a blind date with one of my friends cousins. It was a fun time and I liked the date a lot, however, we never really connected so nothing happened. About six months later, this same kid ended up being in my ward and as I was leaving church that first Sunday I hear this voice yell: "Beth Gee!" I whirled around and we started talking. I just remember walking home from church feeling so surprised that he remembered my name (even if it was a nickname, which is more endearing anyway).
It made me feel like it was worth it to him to remember who I was, not because we were going to date or even that we would be best friends, but because he wanted to.
 When I remember someone's name, I'm not going to be shy and next time I see them, I'm going to give a big ole fat HI! WHO'S WITH ME?!
